It's been just over 4 weeks now that the Belgian consulate has had my application, according to the tracking number date of receipt for my package. It takes between 4-6 weeks for the visa to be processed in most circumstances, and the return envelope I supplied to the consulate has next-day shipping, so no matter what response I get, it will arrive quickly.
Every day when the mailman drops stuff through the slot, I wonder if it will be there. Which is silly considering this is Belgian administration we're talking about and it's notorious among Belgians for being slow. (What country has fast administration, anyways?) So I know that reasonably I should expect nothing for at least 2.5 weeks more, but still I can't help but get my hopes up when I hear my mail arriving.
I've been pretty good to this point about not feeling too pressured about all this, but honestly now... well today I'm looking around my apartment and seeing a lot of things that need to find homes in boxes.
That, and there are a lot of people I'm beginning to wonder if I'll see before I go. Schedules just aren't matching up despite multiple tries with some, and with others communication is more of a labour, for various reasons. Part of me is just thinking "whatever...do what you can do, and f*%* the rest."
And so that's pretty much my mantra for busting this sort of stress for the moment, and to help keep me focussed and motivated as I work through this giant to-do list.
